Nowadays, there is an environmental sense of urgency which is in turn resulting in the formation of groups of concerned individuals, giving rise to eco-centres and thus offering a local solution. We can therefore say that an eco-centre is the communal, gathering place for discussing environmental issues that are of concern to these individuals.

Who are we?

About us

What do we do?

As an eco-centre we facilitate change. We try to give people their physical and mental space to make their own choices, but at the same time we encourage them to gather their own skills and resources, and to engage in activism as they please, based on the Elemental Ethics of Peace, Love, and Healing such as bird watching, nature hikes, nature education, clean-ups, talks…

Eco-centres are usually linked to other eco-centres and groups either by websites, word-of-mouth, different groups, or also by both formal and informal networks.

As an eco-centre, we provide an open forum as to address environmental issues that are of concern to us and those around us.

Our mission

-   Being eco-wise

-   Being waste free

-   Having an active lifestyle

-   Leaving green

Aims and goals

Our main aim is towards a better future and a healthier environment.

Nowadays, it seems like nobody has enough time for anything, including taking care of the envrionment and leaving a better world for generations yet to come...

Thus, as a group of teens from Zejtun, Mata, we came together, in conjunction with Nature Trust Malta to serve the purpose of raising awareness and encouraging communities to be more green in their lifestyle.

Besides promoting the quality of being Eco-wise, given the increase in obesity and the rate at which this is happening, we promote healthy living, and an active lifestyle.

To be waste free means to avoid producing extra waste and therefore one will not have to worry about having to dispose of the material. Waste can be reduced in various ways, some of these activities include:

shopping (e.g: Avoid buying single-use items like paper or plastic plates, cups and disposable silverware and keep and make use of a cloth bag) work (e.g: Be sure to only print the e-mails you need to have a hard copy of. and draft documents can be reviewed, edited and shared on-screen) and in our everyday activities (e.g: Try to use both sides of a sheet of paper for writing and drawing and make art and crafts from recycled material ).

Besides these 3 points that we mentioned (eco-wise, active lifestyle and waste free) we come to a final and crucial point... leaving green.

Generations to come are counting on us to have a green areas and it all comes down to every single one of us to do so.. its not just about the amount of buildings that are being built, but also to the amount of species which are becoming so dangerously close to extinction through different causes, some of which might not even be direct!!
